Spot Marking Tips
The formal, mandatory instructions are in the PointSpotter User Guide
Keep your PointSpotter clean
- The rubber Nozzle naturally resists paint sticking because it is rubber, but you still have to keep the Spray Hole, Exit Hole, and Vent Holes clear.
- The paint build-up inside the Nozzle will flake away much better if it is not always wet, therefore spray only when you actually need it.
- Clean the Nozzle BEFORE use.
This is because cleaning is easier when the paint build-up is dry, although you can also use water if you prefer wet cleaning.
Paint
- Be sure to shake the paint, and test it for a quality spray BEFORE you install it into the PointSpotter.
If the paint has low pressure or is clogged, it won't work well inside the PointSpotter either!
- Some brands and types of paint work better than others. "Drier", more chalky paints work better than "Wetter" ones.
- Some paint brands require more force to discharge than others. Also we occasionally see aerosol can defects in a lot or batch that require more force.
Operation
- Spray with a short burst.
Spraying too long not only makes a smeared spot, but also a big mess!
- If your coordinate lands on a sloped surface, tip the rod until it is perpendicular to the surface, and keep it in that position while spraying.
