PointSpotter Technical
NOTE: The PointSpotter User Guide contains many answers for operation and care.
Q: How much does the PointSpotter increase the height of my survey rod?
A: It depends on how tall the tip is that you remove from your survey rod, but the PointSpotter is 13 inches tall.
Always measure the total rod height AFTER installing the PointSpotter, then be sure to tell your Total Station or GPS System!
Q: Will the PointSpotter fit my survey equipment?
A: The PointSpotter fits all standard survey poles because it too has a standard 5/8-11 UNC thread.
Q: Can I use XYZ brand of paint?
A: Aerosol cans vary, but PointSpotter is known to work with at least Krylon®, Aervoe®, Rust-Oleum®, and Seymour®. We will test any brand you request. Contact us if you need assistance locating a paint supplier, especially outside of the United States.
Q: Is the PointSpotter difficult to operate?
A: No. Your downward force on the survey rod triggers paint discharge, and you only need to press for about one second!
Q: My PointSpotter does not work very well. What is wrong?
A: Check the PointSpotter User Guide and PointSpotter Tips. If you still have trouble, just Contact us.
Q: Is the PointSpotter durable?
A: Very. The Canister is made from super-tough Acrylonitrile-Butadine-Styrene (ABS), and the Nozzle is Santoprene™ rubber.
Q: Can I use the PointSpotter anywhere?
A: It works best on hard, flat surfaces; however, dirt and grass are also candidates. See some Photos.
Q: Can I use the PointSpotter upside-down or on ceilings?
A: Yes. However, you MUST use the special "upright" aerosols (mine paint, overhead paint). These are available from Krylon®, Aervoe®, Seymour®, and possibly others. If you need help locating the paint or chalk you need, just Contact us.
Q: Can I use any type of temporary or fugitive marking paint/chalk?
A: Only if the manufacturer specifies that it cleans up with water.
Q: Is the 1" diameter paint spot accurate enough?
A: For most cases: Absolutely. Read a note about surveying Accuracy.
PointSpotter Purchasing
Q: How much does a PointSpotter cost?
A: About $100, but our Order Page lets you calculate a total including tax and shipping without making an purchase.

Q: Does PointSpotter have a Warranty?
A: Yes, a Lifetime Warranty is applicable within the usage boundaries presented in the PointSpotter User Guide.
Q: Are there quantity discounts?
A: Yes, just Contact us.
Q: Can I fax my order?
A: Yes, our fax number is listed on our Contact Page. We also accept all major credit cards.
Q: How much tax will I pay?
A: Oklahoma customers can calculate tax on the Order Page.

Q: My Oklahoma organization is tax exempt. Can I place a tax-free order myself using your online ordering?
A: No, our Sales Desk must place the order for you.
Q: I lost part of my PointSpotter. Do you sell replacement parts?
A: Yes. You can purchase Canisters or Nozzles on our Order Page, but we do not sell paint.
Q: Does the PointSpotter come with a can of marking paint?
A: No. You can purchase inverted temporary marking paint from your local survey/construction supply or hardware/home center. Contact us if you need assistance locating a paint supplier, especially outside of the United States.
Q: Can I purchase a different colored PointSpotter?
A: Yes, for large quantities. It will be a special order, and thus will have increased cost. You must send us a physical color sample.
Q: What is all this Encryption/Certificate/SSL stuff on the Order Page?
A: The information (such as credit card numbers) that is sent to us from your computer will be in "secret code" so that if anyone on the internet evesdrops your shopping session, they will have enormous difficulty and expense in attempting to decode your information. Certificate files are part of the whole system of sending information securely. Contact us if you need more information.
Q: Does PointSpotter, LLC sell customer's personal information (gathered during online purchasing) to marketers?
A: Never. And we mean Never. Your privacy is absolutely respected.
PointSpotter Shipping
Q: How much does shipping cost?
A: Our Order Page lets you calculate UPS shipping and a total without making a purchase.

Q: How fast is shipping from the PointSpotter warehouse?
A: It depends on which UPS service you request on our Order Page, and is in terms of BUSINESS DAYS only. Check: How fast is UPS Ground?
Q: Can I get a UPS Tracking Number?
A: Yes, you get it immediately when your order is placed, and if for some reason you need it again, just Contact us.
Q: Will PointSpotter, LLC also ship using FedEx, DHL, BAX, or USPS?
A: Yes. However, online orders must use UPS. For orders using other carriers, contact our Sales Desk.
Q: What is the size and weight of the package?
A: A single package containing one PointSpotter is 4"x4"x12", and weighs just under 1 pound.
